Chiara Lubich has been, for me and for many others, a luminous example of concrete love and self-giving to others. Her life was not only a testimony, but a call: to live unity as a true vocation, a daily commitment capable of transforming relationships and, step by step, the world.

In the Focolare Movement, founded by her, unity is not an abstract idea, but a way of life. It means choosing every day to go out to meet others, to listen, to understand, to build bridges instead of raising walls. It is believing that every person, without distinction, is a brother or sister with whom to share a journey.

Today, in a time marked by divisions, wars, nationalism, and isolation, Chiara’s message resonates with even greater depth. Precisely because it goes against the current, it appears authentic and necessary. It reminds us that unity is not a utopia, but a concrete possibility, if lived with courage and perseverance.

Chiara taught us that love is the key: a love that becomes close, that knows how to become one with the other, that does not give up in the face of differences, but embraces them as richness. It is this love that can heal the wounds of humanity and rebuild what seems broken.

Her dream was that of a united world, a great family in which peoples, cultures, and diverse traditions can live in harmony. A dream that today is entrusted to us as well. Each one, in their own small way, can be a builder of unity: in the family, at work, in the community.

Following her example, we can continue to believe that a different world is possible. Unity, as Chiara has shown us, is not only an ideal: it is the path to change the world, starting from ourselves.
